Being from the border and seeing these atrocities against people and children. While having the privilege to cross whenever I want, how can I live with myself? But is crossing every day and waiting for hours like my family just to work and have a better life much of a privilege? Am I ever "American" enough even by having a double nationality? Does the pain ever really go away in our own land? ...
Part 2 of this piece was a live performance/protest, documented in film, in front of the Art Institute of Chicago. I was protesting the buoys in the Rio Grande River. It was important to protest in front of a large institution because institutions are known to be very colonial spaces and even taking space in it as a person of color is a form of protest.
